A devastating accident in Manitoba, Canada, has resulted in the loss of at least 15 lives. On Thursday, a bus carrying elderly passengers collided with a truck near Carberry, approximately 170 kilometers west of Winnipeg.
The passengers were en route to a casino in Carberry when the incident occurred. Deputy Police Officer and commander of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba, Rob Hill, confirmed the fatalities, stating, “At least 15 individuals were pronounced dead as a result of the collision.”
Ten others are currently receiving medical treatment at the hospital. Although both drivers survived the crash, authorities are still determining who was at fault. Heart-wrenching images from the scene showed destroyed wheelchairs and walkers near tarps covering the victims’ bodies.
In the wake of this tragedy, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has expressed his deepest condolences and offered his support to the injured and the families who have lost their loved ones. Manitoba Premier Heather Stefanson has also shared her sympathies for all those affected.
