Following a three-day inquest, the parents of three-year-old Ryleigh Hillcoat Bee, who passed away at Blackpool Victoria Hospital in 2021, are pursuing a medical negligence case.
The inquest concluded that her death resulted from complications due to rhabdomyolysis, a treatable but potentially fatal condition.
Coroner Alan Wilson noted missed opportunities by the hospital to examine her symptoms, including muscle weakness and unusual blood test results, which could have signaled her neuromuscular issues.
Ryleigh’s parents, Andrew Hillcoat and Caroline Bee, expressed their devastation and believe her death could have been prevented if her condition had been properly managed.
Despite clear indicators, their legal representative claims that specialist advice was not pursued.
