Ellen DeGeneres has decided to return to show business, driven by her artistic urge to entertain. The 66-year-old comedian is gearing up for her comeback tour, “Ellen’s Last Stand… Up,” starting next week in Spokane, Washington. This marks her return to touring since 2018, four years before her daytime talk show concluded amid allegations of a ‘toxic’ work environment.
Having moved past the drama, Ellen has been performing multiple shows in Los Angeles as a prelude to her tour. According to a longtime friend quoted by Page Six, Ellen needed some time to recover but ultimately felt the need to return to entertaining.
“Ellen is a comedian,” another friend explained. “All comedians have their quirks, but this is her life. She wants to share her experiences and where she is now. Look at Jerry Seinfeld; he does stand-up all the time. Why shouldn’t she?”
Despite her return to stand-up, Ellen is not keen on returning to daytime television. An insider with a longstanding professional relationship with Ellen said, “Why would she go back? She accomplished a lot and has refocused her life and priorities.”
Before the tour, Ellen’s Los Angeles performances have been well-received, with star-studded audiences including Khloe Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Katy Perry, and Orlando Bloom. She received ‘roaring applause’ at a recent Club Largo show, where she humorously addressed her fall from grace due to the toxic workplace scandal.
Ellen reflected on the past, sharing how she was criticized for being ‘mean’ and how her image as the “be kind” girl was tarnished. She joked about her efforts to dance up steps on her show, and how her persona as a generous, cheerful host overshadowed other aspects of her character.
Ellen has been actively promoting her upcoming comedy tour, sharing updates with her 139 million Instagram followers.
